Why CITY OF JOY?

Well there are countless reasons.

Its a place where you can have a cup of tea for 2 bucks and a plate full of snacks for 10 , which makes it even for the poor and the have nots to enjoy it . I haven’t found any city yet where i can get tea and i mean good tea at such a price .

There is a place called Nandan near Excide roundabout and its one on the places in Kolkata where throughout the year some event keeps going on , whether it be promoting a upcoming artist in any field or be it a photo exhibition , something is always up and running and people generally visit there in evening to catch up with a friend or to watch a flash mob..

Coming to theater , as opposed to commercial theaters , there are many theaters in Kolkata are characterized by their tendency for experimentation in theme, content and production with a social message for everyone . The one place that i used to visit was Experimenter , its in Gariahat .

People there are very happy and content about their lives and you can see that in them .They are never in a rush for a business meeting or a financial deal but instead they focus on the human essence of life and enjoy it to the fullest and that’s why i think its called city of joy .

Last but not the least , when you feel tired , depressed and stressed out , take a walk on the Ghat of Ganges, go on a Feri ride , enjoy the cool breeze on the ghats and you feel afresh .

Cultural activities are at its peak , photowalks are very common and you will always find people there engaging in one thing which they like most such as music , theatre , painting and photography and give a lot of time towards it .
